The Adventures of Chameleon Cat
Snow-prints
It was snowing. As usual Chameleon Cat was looking for mischief. Today if she turned white, she could hide in the snow.
She watched as the children made a snowman in the garden. They had lots of fun throwing snowballs at each other.
After lunch the family went out, leaving Chameleon Cat alone. She was bored. She walked around the garden wondering what to do. She couldn’t be seen, but her paw prints were leaving a trail behind her.
‘That’s it!’ she thought. ‘If I make them bigger, people will think a big animal has been in our garden.’

But how could she do it? She couldn’t get into the tool shed because the door was locked. She wandered to the back of the garden. Lots of leaves had fallen under the trees.
Accidentally she trod on a large leaf. It stuck to her front paw, where her claw had caught in it. As she walked on she tried to release it by putting her other paw on to it.
It was only by chance she looked back. Then she saw her paw prints in the snow. There was one great big print and three small ones. She had solved her own problem. She started to get excited. ‘More leaves, I need three more leaves.’ Off she went to find some.
She pushed out her claws and caught leaves on each paw. ‘Now I must make the tracks,’ she thought. ‘I’ll go behind the trees, then come over by the swing, past the tree house and out again by the tool shed.’
